Overview
For the thriller novel Whispering Shadows by Alex Carter, I was tasked with creating a book cover that immediately conveyed a sense of unease, mystery, and psychological tension—core themes of the story.

Creative Process
I began by exploring the emotional tone of the novel—dark, suspenseful, and unsettling. The idea of a shadowy identity and blurred perception led me to use a distorted, ghost-like facial image as the focal point. Treated with a charcoal filter and rough textures, the visual mimics the eerie imperfection of an old photocopy, hinting at lost memories and unreliable truths.

To heighten contrast and grab attention, I set the title Whispering Shadows in a bold yellow typeface. This choice not only adds tension but visually disrupts the quiet, grey scale background—reflecting the story’s psychological twists.

Back Cover
The back cover keeps things minimal: a portrait of the author, Alex Carter, and a short, fictional bio that adds to the mystique. The simplicity balances the intensity of the front while maintaining a cohesive design system.

Outcome
The final cover captures the haunting tone of the novel while standing out on shelves and digital platforms. It tells part of the story before the reader even opens the first page—something essential for any successful book cover design.
