Soundwave Indie Rock Music Festival 2025

Project type

Visual Identity, Event Collateral & Merchandise Design

Date

2025

Location

Portugal

Overview

For this vibrant summer music festival set by the beach, I was tasked with creating a full visual identity system that captured the energy of indie rock while also feeling fresh, approachable, and in tune with the coastal vibe of the location. The goal was to build excitement, establish visual consistency across all touchpoints, and ensure the festival stood out both online and in-person.

Color Palette

To strike the perfect balance between the edgy spirit of indie rock and the warmth of a summer event, I selected a bold yet harmonious color palette:
#2E2E2E – Backstage Black
A deep charcoal tone that evokes the raw edge of underground venues and the mystery behind the curtain.
#D95D39 – Amped Ember
A fiery, bold orange-red that mirrors the pulse of the crowd and the energy of the performances.
#E3B23C – Golden Setlist
A vintage-inspired golden mustard, reminiscent of old concert posters and warm stage lights.
#F6F1EB – Echo White
A soft, creamy white that provides contrast and balance—like a moment of calm after the final encore.

Design Deliverables

I developed a complete visual system that included:
Logo Design:
A bold, clean wordmark using a strong typeface that reflects the power and simplicity of indie rock.
Event Posters (x3):
Each with a unique focus—location imagery, musical instruments, and a performer—designed to engage a diverse audience and provide visual familiarity with the event.
Merch Design:
Tote bags and t-shirts featuring a dark-tone dye color technique to stay on-brand while adding visual texture and personality.
Sticker Pack:
A small set of custom-designed stickers featuring retro and music-inspired elements like a vinyl record, cassette tape, Converse sneakers, and a set of headphones—created to be given away at the festival to boost engagement and brand recognition.
Promotional Materials:
Designs for large outdoor signage, bus stop ads, hanging flags, and tickets to support a consistent and eye-catching event presence across the city.

My Role & Creative Process

From concept to execution, I led the entire design process. Here’s how I approached it:
Research & Moodboarding:
I started by analyzing similar events, exploring indie rock visual styles, and gathering inspiration from beach locations and vintage music memorabilia.
Strategy & Problem Solving:
The key challenge was creating something edgy enough for indie rock fans but still inclusive and vibrant to reflect the beachside, summertime vibe. I solved this by blending raw textures and bold typography with warm, accessible colors and relatable imagery.
Execution & Adaptability:
I designed with flexibility in mind—ensuring all assets worked together cohesively across print, merch, and digital, while being adaptable for various sizes and placements.

Outcome & Impact

The final outcome is a cohesive and impactful visual identity that communicates the energy of indie rock while inviting a wide range of people to participate. Every design element—from the posters to the merchandise—was crafted with intention, combining aesthetics and purpose.

Why This Matters for Future Clients

This project is a great example of how I approach design as both a creative and strategic tool. I don’t just make things look good—I solve problems through design. Whether it’s branding a large event or creating a simple sticker pack, I focus on clarity, emotional connection, and effectiveness.
