Visual Identity for Ñuu Art Callery
Project type
Visual Identity and promotionals
Date
2025
Location
Oaxaca, Mexico
The Challenge
While the gallery offered exceptional artwork, it lacked a unified visual presence. Additionally, the artisans wanted souvenirs for visitors who might not purchase original artwork but still wanted to take home a meaningful reminder of the gallery.
The main challenge was to design a flexible identity that represented the local culture and could be easily applied across different materials and formats.
Creative Process
1. Research & Concept Development
• Explored traditional Oaxacan colors: Mexican pink, bright yellow, teal, purple, and black, with pink and black as the primary brand colors.
• Incorporated children’s drawings of alebrijes—mythical creatures deeply rooted in local culture—to symbolize creativity, imagination, and the future of local art.
2. Visual Identity Design
• Designed a clean, versatile logo adaptable to print and digital platforms.
• Developed a vibrant color palette reflecting the cultural richness and energy of the region.
3. Promotional Applications
• Created designs for t-shirts, tote bags, mugs, pins, and journals using the brand colors and alebrije illustrations, offering visitors affordable souvenirs.
My Role
As the graphic designer, I was responsible for:
• Developing the visual identity from concept to execution.
• Designing all promotional materials for the gallery.
• Overseeing creative direction to ensure brand consistency across applications.
Results
• A professional and culturally authentic visual identity representing the spirit of Ñuu Arte.
• Attractive and affordable souvenirs that allow visitors to take home a piece of the gallery experience.
• A unified brand presence that elevates the gallery’s image within Oaxaca’s cultural and artistic landscape.
Conclusion
This project transformed Ñuu Arte Galería de Arte Contemporáneo en Oaxaca into a visually cohesive brand, merging tradition, local culture, and contemporary design into a memorable identity.
